We're a team of freelance corporate communications writers and editors, led by Polly Ribet.

We love helping companies communicate and engage with their audiences. We offer a range of content and copy services, from planning content for B2B audiences, to writing and editing copy for internal and external stakeholders through digital, social and printed channels.

With experience as business journalists, working in design and content agencies and in-house with marketing and comms teams, we’ve a great understanding of different stakeholder relationships and interactions.   • Working closely with communications and marketing teams, we can provide a fully outsourced – or ad-hoc - content planning, writing and editing solution across a range of formats, depending on your needs.   • We draft and write content for corporate websites, working closely with your internal or outsourced design and UX teams, and ensuring the content is consistent with the rest of your corporate communications materials.

  • For companies who may be refreshing their brand, welcoming new management or want to build out their purpose, we work with comms and leaders to develop their brand narrative, together with brand and marketing teams.

  • Our employee-led comms work provides an expert eye for all your internal comms needs, including planning and writing internal comms programmes covering ED&I projects, integration post-merger, redefining company handbooks, and developing employee engagement initiatives, working with both internal coms and HR teams.

  • We work closely with IR and leadership teams to help you expertly structure and write investor-related comms, including analyst/investor presentations, financial website detail, comms around investor days and letters to investors.

  • We love to get involved in more creative copywriting projects. We work with companies to develop new names, as well as editing books and novels, speech writing and video scripts.

Our team

  • Reporting writer and editor 

    As an award-winning copywriter and expert editor with over 30 years of experience, I excel at understanding large organisations, polishing each narrative with consistent style and tone, and correcting grammatical errors. In addition to working in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, aerospace and industrial gases sectors, I have over two years of in-house experience , as both head of visual identity and PR and communications manager.  I leverage my extensive experience to help businesses of all sizes communicate clearly and confidently. 

  • Senior Adviser

    I’m a former inhouse corporate affairs director with 25 years experience. I’ve led global teams of communicators with a focus on listed firms in complex regulated sectors such as energy, financial services and telecommunications. I’m a partner at the strategic communications firm Apella and also a NED at Caldera, a provider of zero carbon heat to industry.

  • Proofreader

    I've worked as a self-employed proofreader and editor for over a decade. In 2014, I decided to specialise in corporate communications and took on a contract for an Aviva Investors’ quarterly report, which I still hold. As well as regularly working with major corporate communications design agencies and proofreading regulatory reports for FTSE1000 and 250 organisations, I also work directly with companies on a range of corporate proofreading work, as well as being retained by a number of fiction writers.

    An experienced copywriter and content developer, I usually work across employer branding, employee comms, finance, technology and B2B marketing. I focus on branding, creative concepting, editing, interviews and content creation.

  • Project manager and editor

    With an eye for detail and over 15 years’ experience as a writer, editor and change manager, I'm adept at  translating complex information into plain English. My specialist areas include employment law, human resources best practice and sustainability. I've a strong background in researching, developing and implementing websites, carrying out usability testing and market research. I've written and edited newsletters, corporate communications, regulatory reports and sustainability statements, as well as  creating training and workshop materials for a range stakeholders. I hold master’s degrees in employment law/HR and information studies.

  • Investor Relations Director and editor 

    I have over 30 years’ experience in investor relations and financial PR, working as Director of IR for a range of FTSE-100 companies, including Smith + Nephew, Rentokil Initial and Hammerson plc. A proven strategic adviser at senior and board level, I am able to identify and communicate the messages that matter most to company stakeholders. My experience encompasses M&A, shareholder activism, company restructuring, IPOs, stakeholder engagement and creation of corporate and financial literature. These include Annual Reports, results presentations and statements, and capital markets day materials. I have project managed and written over 20 Annual Reports, winning five awards including the Investor Relations Society Grand Prix Award for Best Overall Communication of a Company Investment Proposition, FTSE-100, in 2017. 

  • Reporting writer and editor

    I'm a copywriter and editor with over 30 years experience working in comms, copywriting and PR. My experience covers a wide range of sectors including renewable energy, higher education, wealth management, not-for-profit organisations and commercial and residential property. I specialise in working on corporate reports, case studies and websites. I particularly enjoy working with client teams to unearth what makes their organisation unique, and translating that into lucid, readable and informative copy.

  • Writer and editor

    I've a strong background in financial reporting and copywriting and am an award-winning journalist, as well as former Head of Communications for a nationwide wealth manager. Creating the narrative to help companies of varying sizes, and in a number of sectors, to deliver a succinct, clear and compelling message is an area where I excel. I have worked with a number of key stakeholders (in particular Board level management), with sustainability reporting an area of expertise. I'm also a Judge and Board Adviser at the Lloyds Bank British Excellence Awards – the UK’s largest programme of its kind, established to celebrate innovation, growth and entrepreneurialism.

  • Writer and editor

    I've a background as a financial journalist and editor, with over 20 years' experience of writing on investing, personal finance and sustainability. I was awarded Green Voice of the UK by the Energy Saving Trust and have worked with major global organisations on writing sustainability reports and produced a white papers on green energy. I've project managed and edited new websites, as well as working as an acting Director of Communications. I'm the author of three books and have also lectured in business writing at London Metropolitan University.

    I'm the founder of Hailhurst, and work with leadership teams for FTSE100, 250 and major global organisations on a range of corporate content: from writing and editing award-winning annual and sustainability reports, to articulating brand and corporate narratives, consulting on internal and external comms. My experience as a journalist, working for design agencies and in-house comms means I can advise on communicating effectively to a range of stakeholders, as well as advising on messaging, content and structure.

    My 15+ years of experience covers a multitude of industries, working for family businesses, solo operators, SMEs and FTSE100 organisations. I worked as an in-house marketer at Babcock International in a range of business units and have since consulted across multiple industries. I'm passionate about content creation - from blogs, articles, and reports to social media storytelling or from the foundations of a strong brand narrative through its application.

  • Proofreader

    I'm an experienced proofreader with over thirty years in the design and advertising industries. I've read a wide range of print and online projects, including annual reports, ESG reports, identity guidelines, press and magazine ads, websites and packaging. I fully appreciate the importance of delivering accurate work on time and have a very good understanding of the corporate reporting sector. I can offer a great eye for detail, reliability, dedication and a flexible approach to working.I am also calm under pressure with a relaxed, friendly and professional attitude.

    I’m a writer and editor specialising in long-form content, including articles, thought leadership and annual and sustainability reports, for sectors including energy, tech and finance. Previously I was a financial journalist and have written widely about sustainability.
